“Reporters without Borders” international human rights organization has appealed to the Council of Europe and OSCE demanding to put pressure on Azeri authorities to cease violations “of international norms of freedom of speech” in that country. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, in the words of secretary general of the organization Robert Menard, over 30 lawsuits, instituted mainly by state functionaries, were filed against Azeri media last year. “The media persecution is inadmissible in a country, which pledged to respect the press freedom before European structures,” – he noted.
