Heirs of Armenian Genocide Victims Claim Compensation from Victoria German Insurance Company

The heirs of the Armenian Genocide demanded compensation from the Deutsche Bank and Victoria insurance company. Spiegel magazine with a reference to lawyer Vardkes Yeghiayan wrote that “Armenians maintained at least 280 insurance policies.” “The sum is not clear yet but the matter concerns at least dozens of millions,” lawyer Bryan Katabek stated. The suit to Victoria was brought 16 months ago in Los Angeles, however the court proceedings were protracted, since the German Supreme Court should decide on the court to deal with the case. To remind, earlier New York Life U.S. insurance company and French Axa agreed on paying the heirs of those who insured lives in the companies at the beginning of the 20th century. New York Life and Axa will pay $20 million and $14 million respectively.
