Darchinyan’s coach suggests change of strategy for Gallo bout

Two-division world champion Vic Darchinyan is training in the U.S. before a May 11 bout against Francisco Javier Gallo in Laredo, TX, the boxer’s coach said.

“Vic has been training for a month and is currently in top shape. A win in a Gallo bout will give him a chance for a championship fight,” Vazgen Badalyan told PanARMENIAN.Net.

“Gallo, like many other Mexican boxers, prefers a total combat,” the coach said, suggesting that Darchinyan recall amateur boxing style and increase speed.

“Vic’s punches are strong, so he has to surprise his rival with technical boxing. Also, despite being left-handed, he’d do well to strike with both hands, since Gallo won’t be ready for such a move,” he concluded.
