Brazil will receive around 600,000 tourists during the 2014 World Cup, according to estimates made by Embratur, the Brazilian government agency responsible for promoting tourism in Brazil.
The announcement was made by Embratur's director Tufi Michreff Neto in Mexico City, during the 13th edition of the 'Goal to Brazil' event, which aims to promote the Confederations Cup and World Cup host cities.
The director believes that a large percentage of the tourists will come from nearby countries, he told reporters: "We know that most of the tourists will be from Latin America, due to the geographic proximity and because of the continent's love for football."
The government and the private initiative are investing around 16 billion dollars to prepare the country for the World Cup.
All the stadiums are expected to be complete by the end of the year, but there concerns about the transportation infra-structure, which is still far behind the country's needs and is unlikely to be ready for the World Cup, Sambafoot reported.
