UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT LEONID KUCHMA HEADED CIS HEADS COUNCIL

Today Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma was unanimously elected chairman of the Council of heads of the CIS states. Today it was reported by Russian president Vladimir Putin, who presided at the Council before. As reported by “Novosti” Russian information agency, after the CIS informal summit in Kiev, L.Kuchma assured that he would perform his new duties with responsibility. In his words, the next CIS summit will be held in September 2003 in Yalta, where documents on formation of a free trade zone within the CIS will be signed.
