OSCE MG to Resume Contacts with Karabakh Conflict Parties in January

The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will resume contacts with parties to the Karabakh conflict in January, OSCE MG Russian Co-Chair Yuri Merzlyakov reported. Speaking of the Minsk Group activities after a recurrent visit to the region, the diplomat hoped for more active and uninterrupted process. However, in his words, taking into account the coming Christmas and New Year holidays, the active process will only resume in January, though the Co-Chairs keep in touch via telephone. Yuri Merzlyakov confirmed the opportunity of holding a meeting with FMs or special representatives of Armenia and Azerbaijan before meeting with the two Presidents scheduled in late January. Mid-January is the point and it will probably clear out then, he added.

Answering a question on the exact date and venue of the next meeting of the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, the mediator said, “it is still early to speak about an agreement made.” “I think it will be clear in the middle of January,” he summed up, reported Trend agency.
