Caucasus Institute director, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan ruled out the possibility of an uprising in Armenia.
Dwelling on the hike in gas prices, the expert said the change also affected other countries importing Russian gas.
“Armenian-Russian ties keep developing in the strategic field,” Mr. Iskandaryan said.
The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) member Khosrov Harutyunyan, in turn, noted that the current situation in the country favors RPA in terms of implementation of radical reforms.
“The government will try to achieve good results through systematic reforms,” the RPA member told a press conference.
As for the gas price upsurge, the MP said the issue bears both a political and social nature.
He ruled out Russian authorities’ attitude towards Armenia as the reason behind the change, stressing the need for Yerevan to search for ways of using renewable energy.
“The gas price hike will result in rise in commodity prices which may drag the country into economic crisis,” the MP said.
