Armenian parliament approves government program

Armenian National Assembly approved Thursday, May 23, the government program by a 76-41 vote with no abstentions.

Parliamentary groups of Heritage, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Armenian National Congress (ANC) and Prosperous Armenia parties voted against.

It’s noteworthy that the government program was discussed during parliament’s four-day session that kicked off on Monday. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said the program was developed in consideration of the election programs of Armenian President, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and Orinats Yerkir, as well as the ideas conveyed in the programs of the parties represented in the parliament.

The PM noted emigration, unemployment and poverty as the three main problems that needed speedy solution.

He stressed the need of an ideological revolution, urging the opposition, the alternative political forces and civil society to foster the implementation of the program.
