Building Second Railway instead of Available One Meaningless

«If there already exists the Kars-Gyumri-Tbilisi railway, which can be restored and used, why build another one,» stated Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian during a joint news conference with his Georgian counterpart Gela Bezhuashvili in Yerevan today. In his words, Georgia explains the need to build Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku that the cargo transportation can increase in the future and a second road will be necessary. Oskanian remarked that if based on political considerations Turkey does not wish for Armenia to use that road and make profit, Armenia is ready not to use it, though it will nevertheless promote trade between countries of the region. «Putting into operation the already available branch line is first of all important to us,» the Armenian FM said.
