EU Troika and Russian FM Discussed Karabakh Settlement

The EU Troika met yesterday with Russian FM Sergey Lavrov in Vienna. The situation in the South Caucasus was considered at it, including the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. According to the EU official site, the meeting is held within the framework of EU-Russia consultations and will mainly focus on Iran’s nuclear program, as well as security issues in Europe and post-soviet space. The meeting participants paid considerable attention to the NK conflict and latest talks over the issue between the Armenian and Azeri presidents. The EU was represented at the meeting by FMs of its present and future presiding countries – Austria and Finland – Ursula Plassnik and Erkki Tuomioja, Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighborhood Policy Benita Ferrero-Waldner, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana.
