The damage of a strip of the gas pipeline in the territory of North Osetia caused reduction of gas supplies to Armenia. A “ArmRosgazprom” CJSC representative found it hard to tell “Arka” agency an estimate of the amount of the gas being received in the republic, noting that it changed each hour. At present the lack of gas is compensated at the expense of the available reserves. “We do everything we can to avoid fluctuations in the market,” – the representative emphasized. Let us remind that resulting from a wreck January 14 the North Caucasus-Transcaucasia gas pipeline, through which Russian gas is delivered to Armenia, was stopped up. At present, the blue fuel is being supplied from Russia to Georgia via a spare gas pipeline and repair works are held at the wreckage point of the main trunk line. As reported by Russian media, the ministry of fuel and energy of Georgia states that if the gas pipeline is not restored during January 15, “the daily limit of gas for Armenia, being transported through Georgia will be adjusted in favor of reduction.”
