CIS COUNTRIES COORDINATING EFFORTS TO COUNTERACT AIDS

The first conference of the national coordinators of the Program of urgent actions of CIS countries against the spread of AIDS will be held in Moscow January 13-14. As reported by “Novosti” Russian agency, the forum participants will particularly discuss the legislative aspects of the program implementation. As reported by the CIS executive committee, the question concerns not only the health protection, but also social, educational and economic spheres. Thus, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly working out of a model law letting to modernize national legislations is top-priority. The Program of urgent actions of CIS countries against the spread of AIDS was signed by the government heads of the 11 countries of the Commonwealth in Moscow in May 2002.
