At the invitation of President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) Ruben Hayrapetyan UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson arrived in Yerevan on an official visit. Yesterday Olsson met with the FFA Head. Chair of the State Committee of Physical Culture and Sport at the Armenian Government Ishkhan Zakaryan was present at the meeting. Olsson commented on the situation regarding the elimination matches of the World Championship 2008, which resulted in Armenia and Azerbaijan being in the same group. The Chief Executive said the UEFA is ready to form a special commission, which will study the situation while visiting Armenia and Azerbaijan. In Olsson’s words, the UEFA wishes the matches to be held in Armenia and Azerbaijan, however, it is understood that “security problems are available.” Simultaneously, he hoped that the football conflict between the national teams of Armenia and Azerbaijan will not get a political slant, reports IA Regnum.
