OVER 8.5 THOUSAND REFUGEES FROM AZERBAIJAN BECAME ARMENIAN CITIZENS LAST YEAR

758 refugees from Azerbaijan became Armenian citizens in November 2002. Assistant representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Armenia Emil Sahakian told “Arminfo” agency. In his words, within the eleven months of the year 2002 some 8.5 thousand refugees from Azerbaijan became citizens of Armenia. Over 48 thousand Armenian refugees on the whole received Armenian passports from 1999 to December 2002.
