Association of Football Federations of Azerbaijan (AFFA) leadership has sent a letter to international football federations, noting the importance of holding matches between Armenian and Azeri national teams in a neutral field, AFFA President Ramiz Mirzoyev stated at the Association 10th conference. In his words, thought the response letter of UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson says that based on articles 1.03 and 3.09 of the statute on Championship, the field owners should provide for the match being in line with the rules, fair play principle and security before, during and after the game. «Nevertheless, nothing is said about the venue of the match with Armenians. In compliance with article 34 in case of force majeure the final word belongs to the UEFA Executive Committee. On the other hand, based on the rules 60 days before the match football organizations of Azerbaijan and Armenia have to report the venue of the match to the UEFA.»
In Mirzoyev’s words, football organizations other countries support AFFA position. According to him, Secretary General of the Football Federation of Israel Naim Zimmer suggested to host matches with Armenians in Israel. «Besides, heads of Football Federations of Luxembourg, Belarus, Bulgaria, Latvia, Moldova, Netherlands and other countries expressed readiness to host matches between Armenian and Azeri national teams,» Mirzoyev said.
