TURKISH PRESIDENT VETOED CONSTITUTION CHANGES FAVORABLE FOR ERDOGAN

Turkish president Ahmet Necdet Sezer has vetoed the package of constitutional changes passed by the parliament that let leader of the Justice and Development party (AKP) Receb Erdoghan become deputy and then take office of the prime minister. As reported by Turkish media, the president explained his rigid stand by the fact that the passed changes were subjective and emanated from the interests of an individual personality. According to the Turkish constitution, if the state head declines the package of changes for the second time, to all appearance, the issue will be submitted for national referendum.
