US CONCERNED WITH PRE-ELECTION SITUATION IN AZERBAIJAN

The US administration is concerned over the pre-election situation in Azerbaijan. US State Department spokesman Richard Boucher stated yesterday. He noted that Washington “highlights” the presidential election planned in Azerbaijan in October. “We do not support any of the candidates, but we are very much interested in the election to be held in compliance with the Electoral Code, the Constitution of Azerbaijan and international standards,” – Boucher said. “The OSCE standards provide for registration of all eligible candidates, public disputes, guarantees of fair and free vote,” – the spokesperson noted.
