Iran's Deputy Energy Minister Houshang Falahatian announced plans to launch construction of a power transmission line with Armenia within the next 3 months.
As Iran.ru reported citing Tasnim, the official referred to a contract stipulating for Iranian gas supplies to Armenia in exchange for energy. However, since the enactment of the contract, the exchange hasn’t reached the envisaged amounts.
Recently, construction of a new power transmission line was discussed with the Armenian side. Financing sources were specified, with the Export Development bank of Iran to provide funding, the official said.
With preparations to be finalized in the next 3 months, construction of a line will be launched to allow for increased amounts of energy and gas supplies, Falahatian concluded.
