Demarches of official Baku such as instituting criminal proceedings against Nagorno Karabakh president and appealing to the International police on the occasion are evidence of an atmosphere of confusion prevailing in Azerbaijan because of the notable increase of NKR and its political leadership authority in the international arena. As reported by “De Facto” agency, NKR president Arkady Ghukasian told journalists about it today. It is not casual, in his words, that the NKR leadership’s visit to France and the US – the countries of the OSCE Minsk group ambassadors, where Armenian communities’ positions have traditionally been strong – served as an occasion for Baku’s latest demarche. Baku did not conceal that the Azeri diplomatic representations in those countries attentively followed the trip. “To all appearance, the information received from them on the attitudes of citizens (not only of Armenian origin) of these two leading countries of the world towards Nagorno Karabakh, as well as the moral and material support rendered to NKR by the influential Armenian communities of US and France spread real panic among the Azeri political establishment,” – A. Ghukasian said.
