The opening of a granite plate in the memory of the Armenian defenders of the blockaded Leningrad during World War II has been held in Peskarev memorial complex of Saint Petersburg. The Armenian parliamentary delegation headed by speaker Armen Khachatrian, vice governor of Saint Petersburg Vladimir Derbin, representatives of the Armenian embassy in Russia participated in the opening ceremony. Addressing the ceremony the Armenian parliament speaker noted that the plaque immortalizing the memory of the Armenian defenders of the blockaded Leningrad would become another pledge of eternal friendship between the Armenian and Russian peoples.
