A MONUMENT TO ARMENIANS OF BUDENNOVSK WILL BE ERECTED IN THE CITY

In Budennovsk, Stavropol region, a monument in honor of founders of the city – Armenian immigrants, will be erected. As reported by “Yerkramas” newspaper of Armenians of the south of Russia, Armenians, that received land by the edict of emperor Paul I in the middle of 18th century, founded the town of Surb Khach, afterwards renamed Budennovsk. Recently, by initiative of the city administration a competition was announced for the best project of the monument, for which the local Armenian community and the city architects have already presented their sketches. The monument will be erected in the old part of Budennovsk, called Karabakhla, where the first Armenians settled down.
