Today the draft of a model law on peacekeeping activities in the territory of CIS is submitted for expert evaluation of analysts from 15 countries participating in the international conference on military and legal issues held in Moscow. “The document, which is now being discussed in the parliaments of the CIS countries, is called in particular to strengthen the Treaty on Collective Security, which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Russia and Tajikistan,” – member of the Russian academy of military sciences Vladimir Petrovskiy stated. In his words, the bill aims at uniting the standard acts, which regulate the military and civil relations between the Commonwealth countries. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, the invitation of experts from Europe and US to discussion of the document is conditioned by international community’s participation in the working out of the bill. The matter concerns cooperation in this direction between the creators of the document – i.e. the Russian center for international and political research and the Russian State Duma committee on defense – with experts of the Geneva center for democratic control of armed forces.
