One can speak about the terms of holding negotiations on Armenia’s accession to the European Union when “relevant political conditions, most of which relate to democracy and human rights” are present. President of the European Commission Romano Prodi told “Mediamax” agency about it. Being asked whether the EU considers Armenia as a stable partner in the South Caucasus, Prodi answered, “All democratic countries are our good partners.” “Newly democratizing states should study gradually, and our task is to assist them in moving in true direction,” – the European Commission chairman said.
