EU Does Not Object to Market Economy Country Status to Armenia

The EU does not have objections in principle to giving market economy country status to Armenia, Minister of Trade and Economic Development of Armenia Karen Chshmarityan told journalists in Yerevan today. In his words, the issue was raised at the recurrent 7th session of EU-Armenia Cooperation Committee. “The European party does not have objections in principle and the basic cause owing to which the respective decision is not adopted yet is purely technical,” Chshmarityan said. In the Minister’s words, the giving of the status to Armenia will further strengthen cooperation with the EU and will result in mitigation of anti-damping measures for Armenian companies, reports Novosti-Armenia.
