NAGORNO KARABAKH NEVER BEEN PART OF AZERBAIJAN, ARMENIAN DEFENSE MINISTER SAID

Nagorno Karabakh has never been part of Azerbaijan. Armenian defense minister Serge Sargsian stated it in Prague when answering the questions asked by journalists. In his words, as reported by “Arminfo” agency referring to “Zerkalo” Baku newspaper, in the early twenties of the last century Nagorno Karabakh was included in the Azerbaijani Soviet Socialist Republic by force, after which official Baku began claiming these territories. The Armenian political leadership considers that Nagorno Karabakh should determine its status itself, the minister noted, stressing the inadmissibility of posing someone’s terms on Nagorno Karabakh. Referring to Armenia, the defense minister said it had to be the guarantor of the Nagorno Karabakh security.
