Armenian churches are being actively built in the south of Russia. As reported by “De Facto” agency, solemn consecration of Surb Sargis Armenian church was held in Slavyansk-na-Kubani city the other day. The church will become not only spiritual, but also cultural and elucidative center for local Armenians. It also has the role of a peacekeeper in the hard inter-ethnic situation in the Krasnodar region. Armenian churches in Pyatigorsk (Stavropol region), Maykop (Republic of Adygeya) were hallowed one or two days ago. By the end of the year an Armenian church will be built in Tenchinka settlement of Tuapse district of Kuban. Building works are also held in Novorossiysk and Stavropol cities, as well as in Daghestan, where an Armenian church is being build in the town of Kizlyar. Restoration of an Armenian church, the foundation of which was laid in IV century, began in Derbent. Soon the ground allotted for construction of an Armenian church in Sochi will be sanctified and the building of a new church will begin in Budennovsk (Stavropol region).
