IF NAGORNO-KARABAKH REPUBLIC RECOGNIZED, PEACE IN CONFLICT ZONE TO BE MUCH SOONER, NKR FOREIGN MINISTER THINKS

The reason of the current inactivity of the Karabakh conflict settlement process under aegis of the OSCE is Azerbaijan’s refusal to have direct contacts with Nagorno-Karabakh. As «De-facto» agency reports, NKR foreign minister Ashot Gulian stated that at the meeting with the delegation of the Great Britain’s parliament that is led by House of Lords vice-Speaker, Baroness Caroline Cox and that is in Stepanakert with a familiarization visit. «Today the reality requires Nagorno-Karabakh’s full participation in the talks process», Ashot Gulian noted. He reported that the Karabakh side would continue its efforts directed to the international recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. In this connection the minister expressed the opinion that if NKR is recognized by the international community, peace and stability in the conflict zone will be much sooner. «The years of armistice proved that the peaceful co-existence of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan is possible», Ashot Gulian noted.
