ECONOMIC SITUATION IN ARMENIA IMPROVED QUALITATIVELY, WB REPRESENTATIVES CONSIDER

The World Bank observations evidence that since mid-2000 the economic situation in Armenia improved qualitatively. As reported by “Arminfo” agency, WB economist Lev Freinkman stated it in his speech delivered at the Slavonic University of Armenia today. In his words, Armenia follows a rather liberal economic policy, inflation is low, external debt is small and the state of affairs is not bad in the state budget, as well as some branches of economy. The export of industrial production increases and the poverty rate has been reduced from 55% in 1999 to 47% in 2001.
