WE WISH KARABAKH CONFLICT TO BE SETTLED BY MEANS OF TALKS, LEADER OF MUSLIMS OF CAUCASUS STATED

“We wish the Nagorno Karabakh conflict to be settled through negotiations. As it has not happened, militant moods increase among the population and control over the situation may be lost.” As reported by “Arminfo” agency referring to “Turan,” head of the Spiritual Board of the Caucasian Muslims Allahshukur Pashazade stated it in the course of the meeting with US ambassador to Armenia John Ordway, who is in Baku on a familiarization visit. In Pashazade’s words, during the joint meetings mediated by Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Alexy II, the leaders of the Armenian Church also considered mutual compromises necessary for peaceful solution of the problem. Having emphasized the interest of the Catholicos of all Armenians Garegin II in the next meeting with Allahshukur Pashazade, ambassador Ordway reported that he would discuss the matter with the Armenian Church leader upon his return to Yerevan.
