GEORGIAN PRESIDENT DOES NOT RULE OUT RAISING ISSUE OF COUNTRY’S MEMBERSHIP IN NATO AT PRAGUE SUMMIT

Eduard Shevardnadze did not rule out the opportunity that Georgia would raise the question of its membership in NATO at the organization summit in Prague. Answering the journalists’ questions the day before, Eduard Shevardnadze specified that it would depend on the situation at the summit. “If Baltic states join NATO, it would be natural for Georgia’s turn to come. Thus, after fulfilling some requirements Georgia will apply for accession to the organization,” – Shevardnadze noted.
