The elections of local self-government bodies held in Armenia October 20 fitted the international standards. Head of the delegation of the Congress of local regional leaders of Europe Christopher Newbury stated it. In his words, “In general, the elections were held without notable transgressions and incidents, and the electoral commissions were working professionally.” “The elections of local self-government bodies are an important step on the way of formation of democratic institutions in the republic,” – C.Newbury emphasized. Let us note that the final results of the local self-government bodies elections in Armenia, in which 46% of constituency participated, will be made public November 13.
