Today, the meeting on the preparation of the report “Millenium Development Objectives” took place at the UN representative office in Armenia. As UN program coordinator to RA Joel Butru explained, these objectives are hunger and poverty extirpation, necessary secondary education, children mortality reduction, woman health issues, struggle against AIDS and malaria, environment preservation, global cooperation for development. According to the UN representative, poverty extirpation and environment preservation are the most important aspects for Armenia. “The point of all these measures is that all the UN meeting state-members undertake the obligations including the financial ones for the realization of these measures”, Butru stated. It should be noted that “Millenium development objectives” were determined by the UNO in 2000 at the Millenium Summit, where 189 states of the world approved a number of directions of the world development until 2015.
