CO-CHAIRS OF INTER-PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSION ON ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN COOPERATION SIGNED DOCUMENT ON COOPERATION BETWEEN REGIONS AND ADMINISTRATIVE UNITS

The recurrent sitting of the Inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation between the National Assembly of Armenia and the Federal Council of Russia was crowned with signing of a final document “On development of economic cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the administrative units of the Russian federation” in Yerevan. The document in particular expresses intention to support the efforts of the Armenian and Russian governments to intensify the trade and economic interaction between the administrations of the Armenian regions and those of the Russian units, as well as between Armenian and Russian industrialists and entrepreneurs. The document also points out the importance to make a request of the Armenian and Russian governments to expedite the work on the “Agreement on mutual protection of investments” signed in 2001 for submitting it for ratification by the parliaments of the two countries. The governments of the countries will be suggested to consider and undertake measures to restore and establish new ties in the sphere of production of measuring instruments, including those in the spheres of energy saving, mining and refinement of colored stones. The next meeting of the inter-parliamentary commission on cooperation will be held in Moscow early in March 2003.
