GUUAM ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF ALL SOUTH CAUCASIAN STATES, UKRAINIAN PRESIDENT THINKS

Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma, who is visiting Yerevan, has stated that the activities of regional organization GUUAM (Georgia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Moldova) will promote the economic development of all the states of South Caucasus. The GUUAM is not a political but only an economic structure, he noted again. «The GUUAM was established as a transport corridor between Europe, Central Asia and Middle East that is nowadays operates in the interests of Armenia as well», stated Leonid Kuchma answering the «De-Facto» agency’s question on opportunities of the GUUAM to promote development of the regional economic cooperation, taking into consideration Azerbaijan’s efforts to use this structure with a view to isolate Armenia and to put pressure upon it in the aspect of the Karabakh conflict settlement.
