US AND TURKEY TO DISCUSS ISSUES OF MILITARY COOPERATION WITH GEORGIA

Because of tension between Georgia and Russia relations, a meeting of Georgian-American and Georgian-American-Turkish working groups will take place in Tbilisi, October 8-9. As “Arminfo” agency reports with reference to Turkish media, issues on military cooperation with Georgia will be discussed at the meeting. According to Georgian defense deputy minister Gela Bejuashvili, issue on utilization of $64 million, rendered to Georgia for training 4 anti-terrorist units within the framework of the NATO “Training and equipping” program will be also discussed. At the meeting, the American side will be represented by the assistant deputy head of the Pentagon, and the Turkish will be represented by the head of the department of strategic programs of the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the State.
