“ARMENTEL” TELECOMMUNICATION COMPANY MONOPOLY HAMPERS DEVELOPMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES IN ARMENIA

The Armenian-American commission on economic cooperation has considered the issue of the monopolistic position of “ArmenTel” Telecommunication Company in Armenia. As RA finance and economy minister Vardan Khachatrian has stated, the American side noted that the monopoly in the communication sphere hampers the development of the information technologies in Armenia that is a priority-driven issue for the RA economy. The American side promised its assistance in that issue, Khachatrian noted. The minister noted that “that assistance can have both consulting and financial nature”.
