NEW UPHEAVALS HARD TO AVOID IN CAUCASUS IN NEAR FUTURE, NATO SECRETARY GENERAL STATED

It will be hard to avoid new upheavals and instability manifestations in the Caucasus in the near future. NATO secretary general George Robertson stated it today at the Brussels conference devoted to the coming summit of the North Atlantic alliance in Prague. In his words, at present the Caucasus, Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East “pose a cocktail of potential instability.” All these regions experience a political and economic trial, which, in his opinion, will finally put them on the right path. “But only a blind optimist can say that these changes will occur without serious upheavals,” – the NATO secretary general stated.
