RUSSIAN AND AZERBAIJAN DIVIDED CASPIAN SEABED

Russian and Azerbaijan presidents Vladimir Putin and Heydar Aliyev signed an agreement on delimitation of the contiguous sections of Caspian seabed. As Russian press reports, according to the agreement, Caspian seabed and its entrails are delimited between Russia and Azerbaijan on the basis of the method of the medial line drawn taking into account the equidistance of points and taking into consideration the recognized principles of the international law and the practice in Caspian sea.
