ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT RATIFIED LEGISLATIVE CHANGES ON FULFILLING COMMITMENTS ON ACCESSION TO WTO

The Armenian parliament has passed a package of legislative changes connected with fulfillment of commitments on accession to the World Trade Organization. As reported by deputy minister of trade and economic development of Armenia Tigran Davtian, it is suggested to make changes and supplements to the Customs Code and Republic of Armenia laws “On excise duty” and “On tax on added value.” He also noted that in the course of the negotiations with WTO member states some 250 questions of economic legislation of Armenia were discussed and 245 items were recognized as fitting the organization requirements. “Some questions needing concrete definitions have remained, and the changes suggested are among them,” – the deputy minister said. Let us remind that the question of Armenia’s accession to the World Trade Organization will be solved October 15, 2002 at the meeting of the WTO Supreme body.
