Taking into account the fact that presidential elections are planned in Armenia and Azerbaijan next year, “it is hard for the parties of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict to compromise.” Azeri foreign minister Vilayat Guliyev made such a statement being at the Nakhichevan segment of the Armenian-Azeri border, where negotiations between Presidents Robert Kocharian and Heydar Aliyev are being held. At the same time Guliyev made it clear that Azerbaijan did not rule out the opportunity of settling the conflict via military means. “The problem should be solved. Our people will never bear with losing our territories. Sooner or later we will liberate them, and the time will suggest the way of doing so,” – the Azeri minister said.
