RUSSIA’S ROLE IN KARABAKH SETTLEMENT MOST IMPORTANT, NAGORNO KARABAKH NEWLY ELECTED PRESIDENT CONSIDERS

The role of Russia in the process of the Karabakh problem settlement is the most important. Nagorno Karabakh newly elected President Arkady Ghukasian told journalists it. In his words, this is due to the fact that Russia is the assignee of the Soviet Union and bears political and historical responsibility for everything taking place in the region. The President considers that, being one of the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk group, Russia has enough influence to affect the process of the Karabakh conflict settlement. In A.Ghukasian’s words, the OSCE Minsk group has already conceived the essence of problem to a certain degree. “The world community begins to understand that one should take into account the existing reality,” – the President noted.
