The International Monetary Fund has signed a preliminary agreement with the Armenian government on giving aid within “Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility” program. It is expected that in case the accords are approved at the coming meeting of the IMF Council of Directors to be held in September, Armenia can count on 27 million-dollar trenches. The IMF commission, which had visited Armenia, assessed the on the whole situation in economy of the republic as positive. The economic growth in 2001 and the first half of 2002, as well as the reform of the budget sphere were specially mentioned. As stated earlier by minister of finance and economy of the Republic of Armenia Vardan Khachatrian, the next credit trench of IMF “Poverty Reduction and Growth Facility” will arrive in Armenia in October 2002.
