The Canadian filmmaker Atom Egoian film «Ararat» will open the 27 international festival in Toronto in September. As reported by «Arminfo» agency, according to the director of the festival Piers Handling, two films pretended to the opening of the festival: Atom Egoian’s «Ararat» and David Cronenberg’s «Spider». But, as Handling noted, film «Ararat» was recognized more pertinent to the festival opening ceremony. It should be reminded, the production of «Ararat», relating to genocide of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey in 1915 gave rise to negative reaction of the Turkish authorities taking a number of measures in order the film not to be screened.
