The meeting of the members of the Armenian-Turkish commission on reconciliation will take place in Bodrum Turkish city July 11-13. As commission member, Yerevan State University senior lecturer David Hovannisian has stated in his interview with «Arminfo» agency, many issues will be discussed in the course of the meeting. He personally will advocate recommencing the commission activity which, as it is known, was suspended December 2001 after the Turkish party had separately appealed the international instances with the claim not to consider the issue of the 1915 genocide in Ottoman Turkey. At the same time Hovannisian added, «relations might be continued only taking into consideration the historical past and current situation.» Speaking about the role of the Commission in the development of the Armenian-Turkish relations in general, Hovannisian noted, the contacts between the two countries on different levels are the evidence of that the activities of the Armenian-Turkish commission have proved to be productive.
