OSCE MINSK GROUP CHAIRMANSHIP CAN BE ENTERED IN GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS ON NUMBER OF IDEAS AND PROPOSALS, MG RUSSIAN CO-CHAIR CONSIDERS

The OSCE Minsk Group on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement is constantly considering some new ideas, although they are sometimes for some reason persistently referred to as “the MG new proposals”. Minsk Group Russian co-chair Nikolay Gribkov told “Echo” Baku newspaper about it when answering the question whether the OSCE MG latest efforts to hold a Kocharian-Aliyev meeting meant that new proposals on the conflict settlement had appeared. In general, on the number of ideas and proposals the MG chairmanship can be entered in the Guinness book of world records, the Russian diplomat noted, stressing that the point was not in the number of ideas, but whether the parties were ready to overcome their mistrust and suspicion and to sit at the negotiating table to achieve some agreements with an open heart. Commenting on the recent meeting of the co-chairs in Lisbon, Gribkov noted it was a usual consultation of the Minsk Group participant countries. In the Russian co-chair’s words, the meeting in Lisbon also aimed at informing the newly elected OSCE chairman Antonio Martins da Cruz about the progress and future prospects of the conflict settlement. Gribkov noted that the chairman expressed readiness to second the MG activity and to contribute to its advancement.
