MP blames Armenia-Karabakh falling-out on misunderstanding

Lawmaker from Armenia's ruling Civil Contract Eduard Aghajanyan has claimed that no political processes are happening behind the back of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

Aghajanyan's remarks came after the Foreign Ministry, the Presidency and the National Assembly of Karabakh expressed bewilderment over statements coming from Armenia. In particular, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the international community is telling the Armenian side to lower its "benchmark on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh a little and ensure greater international consolidation around Armenia and Artsakh."

Following the speech, the National Assembly of Nagorno-Karabakh demanded that the authorities of Armenia renounce their "catastrophic position" on the status of Karabakh.

The MP noted on Friday, April 15 that the people of Artsakh are the most important beneficiaries of the negotiation process for a settlement.

Commenting on the statement adopted by the Karabakh parliament, Aghajanyan suggested that the Artsakh MPs "did not fully understand" the speech of the Armenian Prime Minister in the National Assembly on Wednesday.

"The whole current process is aimed at the realization and protection of the legitimate rights of the people of Artsakh," he added.
