The Armenian government has allocated more than 157 million drams (about $400,000) to the Ministry of Emergency Situations from the reserve fund to compensate for the costs of humanitarian assistance provided to Turkey and Syria affected by the earthquake. The corresponding project was presented by the RA Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Pambukhchyan.
“Humanitarian supplies were sent twice by air to Syria and twice by land to Turkey. The task is fully completed, we only have to allocate the money,” Pambukhchyan said.
The money will be spent on the purchase of food and bedding and has already been transferred to the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the rescuers returned from Syria, now the rescuers sent to Turkey are returning.
The death toll from the Turkey-Syria earthquakes is nearing 42,000. Turkish authorities say 36,187 people have been killed in the country. The Syrian government and the United Nations say more than 5,800 people have died in Syria.
