State Employment Service reported that that the unemployment index in the republic makes 6.8% as of April 1, 2008, vice chairman Artak Simonyan told PanARMENIAN.Net.
The number of those looking for a job in April totaled 99 000, exceeding last year’s index by 11.1%. 20 500 (20.7%) of them are young people.
17 944 are eligible for unemployment benefits.
“By the beginning of the year our service helped 2061 find a job,” Simonyan said.
