Armenia's strong dissatisfaction with the incident involving Russian peacekeepers near the Hakari Bridge at the beginning of the Lachin corridor – the last remaining route linking Armenia with Nagorno-Karabakh – has been conveyed to Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin on Friday, June 16.
Kopirkin was summoned to the Foreign Ministry after an attempt by the Azerbaijani forces, accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, to raise an Azerbaijani flag over Armenian territory.
Press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ani Badalyan, told Armenpress on Friday the the Russian envoy was urged to take all the necessary steps to find out the circumstances of the incident and rectify the situation.
One Armenian border guard was wounded in the incident, Armenia's National Security Service said in a statement on Thursday.
One of the videos spreading online showed how the Azerbaijani military, accompanied by the Russian peacekeepers, tried to raise the Azerbaijani flag on the Hakari bridge.
