Today some five thousand women serve in the National army of Armenia exclusively on contract basis. Defense minister Serge Sargsian reported it. In his words, the present conditions of the Armenian army are not so adapted for women’s service. There are still many problems in the army demanding improvement of the life condition and providing officer personnel with domicile, the minister said.
